Sometimes an established USFS campground with at least a pit toilet and some kind of water feature (lake, stream, river) that is semi close to a town for fridge restocking works out somewhere between primitive camping and staying in a hotel. When you are just covering ground and not looking for a long stay in one place or area, this works good.

It finally caught us. We were just west of Anaconda Montana for the last two days on Georgetown Lake. High was upper 80s and lows were in the 40s at night.

We boogied westward this morning and got as far as Wallace Idaho for the night. The daytime temps kept creeping up and up all day as we drove. Topped out at 102 in the sun, upper 90s in the shade.

Soaked our shirts and BUFFs and have been sitting outside quite comfortably, chilly actually when we get a breeze. If it weren't for the no-see-ums, annoying black flies, and little tiny grasshopper type bugs irritating us constantly, we'd be perfect.

Bright and early tomorrow morning, we will hunt down a local coffee hut for a quick caffeine fix and eat some cold left overs from the fridge and then boot scoot for Forest Grove. Should be much cooler there by the time we get home.

You might want to look at the temp records. It has been hot here before. The only reason it seems hotter is because of all the building. More asphalt on the ground, more buildings, more concrete, all heat sinks.
