Well, I over tightened my lug nut while doing my rotation at 90ft pounds and it just snapped right off. I was so pissed off lmao.

Now that I’ve cooled down, I ordered the parts to replace them my self.

Someone please tell me if my understanding is correct:

Pop tire off and remove brake assembly and take off the rotor.

punch out the broken stuff with a punch rod and insert the new stud.

I bought a stud installer tool but I feel like there’s not going to be enough room to clear the inner lip on the hub. We will see.. in case that doesn’t work I plan on using layers of washers to tighten it in.

Is there something I’m missing or is that pretty much it??

Thanks… I feel pretty stupid by the way for doing this haha.

Also, I plan on not driving untill fixed but in case I have to… I should be safe correct?

Yeah you'll be "fine" driving around. Pretty straight forward to replace. Make sure you don't over install the stud. You should be able to see and feel when it is in, pretty hard to do but just beware. Depending on what kind of stud installer you bought you should clear the hub lip.

P.S. How in gods name did you tighten that thing so tight?! Next time I would recommend a few less Ugga Duggas sir.

I drive on 5 when I take off my locking lugnuts for dealer service stuff. I haven't lost a wheel yet!

    Tundra only has 5...

Someone has already probably over torqued the crap out of it before you. You were just the final straw. I think the spec is 83 ft/lb so you should not have snapped it if it was not already under duress. You should be fine until you replace it.

It's really easy, I have done it to one in the rear using a torque wrench. If you cross thread it, it will snap off at a very low torque as well.

Thanks everyone who responded. Read them all. Yes, I feel dumb. Maybe I was the last straw and the tire shop guy over tightened it before. Regardless…

the stud installer tool I bought is :Lisle 22800 Wheel Stud Installer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ETUD22/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GD0K7VBTFVP3ZNDHQYB1

the studs I bought are the OEM: Genuine OEM Toyota Lexus New Wheel Lug Stud - Set Of 2-90942-02049 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07997HQFF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_39WB6YS2N01MRKC3DDDT

Can someone verify those because my stupidity is on point today. Thanks

Way back in the day I was pulling maintenance on a fleet of trucks (what company lets a 16 year old kid do this?). Well, I put antifreeze in all the windshield wiper fluids. Fun fact, they're both blue.

90 shouldn’t have snapped that off. Torque wrenches are not very accurate unless you buy the really expensive ones so a wrench set at 83 could be 80 or 85 easily. When I was working part of my job was calibration control and we threw away a lot of wrenches that were out of spec. Also, it’s important to back off the wrench to zero to reduce the chances of stretching the spring.
