    Hey guys,
I recently bought a 2007 Taco and, while I love the thing, I question if it’s the car I want to have for the long haul. My last Tacoma was basically maintenance free, and within 2 months this ones popped a valve cover gasket and coolant manifold. Long story short, an older buddy of mine is parting ways with his truck, and I wanted some experienced (or just opinionated) advice from you guys about making the potential swap. Here are the details

2007 Regular Cab AT 4cyl with 137k miles. Has an over the cab camper shell, but the truck itself is as base model as it gets. I like it, but can’t stop thinking about mods which all seem like a lot for a little bit of return, or just unneeded.

    Would trade in for

2008 Access Cab Prerunner V6 TRD off road with 200k miles. Also has an over the cab shell, with a build out perfect for casual use and specially surfboards. Has two trailer hitch, anything replaced has been “oem or better”, and overall has been heavily cared for.

As far as the truck goes, for many of you the choice is obvious, though at the end of the day my car is used for transportation, not off roading. While it would be great to have a car that I like more in basically every way, I question if it’s worth the sacrifice of MPG and potential break downs due to maintenance need. I would love to get your guys two cents on the topic.

We live SoCal, so the market prices are very hot. I got my truck for 12,5 and have invested a small chunk in it, and he’s asking 14 for his.

Why bother replacing your current truck with another that has 60k more miles on it,look for a low miles 12-15 year model.

14k for a 2wd with 200k miles??? That's way overpriced in my opinion. Even in socal.

Mileage and time is what kills vehicles, parts and components. Wouldn’t trade for a higher mileage vehicle. Sounds like the one you have fits your needs perfectly.
