I appreciate the help, I am going to assume the tool I have in its condition post trauma is more than sufficient for any application I will be using it for.

The wife may need some calibration though

    I've taken the mudflaps off?
If you have a friend/neighbor with a KNOWN in-spec torque wrench, borrow it, torque a lugnut to 30, then 40, then 60, then 80ftlbs and follow it with your Amazon torque wrench at each setting and see if you're close.

If you were building motors or mounting rifle barrels, or assembling jet engines I'd question it heavily, but for lugnuts, diff covers etc, a few ftlbs on either side of spec is okay.

I used to live in Ft Lauderdale. No bomb building, just smuggling,

My neighbors wouldn’t know what a wrench is, let alone a torque wrench. I can usually tell tightness by taste of the bolt, but I was trying to get something more accurate
