I personally have no experience with a T-Harness when mounting an amp but it sure “seems” better than tapping or splicing the stock wiring harness.

so do you guys tap or T?

Do you mean for the main power source for your amp? I have heavy gauge dedicated lines, with a fuse block, running direct from the battery. That's pretty much industry standard. You don't want that power running in concert with your regular stuff, I don't think.

Editing to add - you meant something else I wasn't understanding, so disregard this.

For a head unit a harness makes sense, but for an amplifier you want clean power and ground, you make your own with a big fat fuse.

T Harness if you plan to use the factory speaker wiring and need an amp turn on.

iData would be the first place I look. I think they make a harness for adding an amplifier for Toyota.

Honestly IDK why anyone would prefer another method. Even if I had to build it myself using Metra connectors, I'd still be doing that over anything else.

If a shop told you they DONT want to use a t-harness, just say “thank you for your time” and calmly leave. That’s not the shop I want anywhere near my expensive truck

If theres a T-harness or Harnesses I can make into a T-harness, thats the route I take.

When needed(rarely) I'll cut the factory harness making sure its able to go back to stock if needed.

The problem with most shops is they don't care about the next person thats going to work on the vehicle, so the next person
that usually ends up fixing the hackjob(usually me) gets F'd and has to work twice as hard to fix something that should have
been done right in the first place.

What are you planning on adding?
