You actually paid money for that?

    Not to mention WAY overpriced.

Is $2k not like 2x more than the wheels cost to begin with?

The "repair" will need a full strip of the old powder, proper prep, complete powder application then baking.

    Spot repair will be worse.

The wheels were not properly prepared prior to powder application.

FWIW, the "gouge" looks like it only effects the powder, not into the metal.

Powder or Paint results are completely dependent on proper preparation of the surface.

Small tip: Always do a full inspection of parts BEFORE payment and taking possession then leaving the business. This simple inspection allows you to have a lever to get corrections made.

I have been powdercoating since 2010. I can VERY positively tell you those wheels were NOT ever chemically stripped or sandblasted AT ALL.

The pricing is on another level of ridiculous. Average price for that would be $6-700 max in 2 stage white with satin clear.

All they did was spray over the existing finish. That’s why it has that texture on the back.

A wheel that has been stripped and sand blasted will look like really clean concrete.

    GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

What ever happened with this situation? Hopefully you got your money back and were able to take them to a shop to do a proper job and at the right price.

The original shop took another crack and did a fine job (except the "color match" on the center caps.)

Once the lift is installed and the wheels/tires are mounted I'll post an update.

Glad things work out for you. The price they charged was ridiculous. I had 5 wheels done a couple of weeks ago for $85 per wheel.
