I placed an order and put a deposit on 21 Tacoma in May.
The dealer informed me that Vehicle Scheduled to be built on June 9 and it takes 4 to 6 weeks to arrive at the dealership.
Now two weeks passed from June 9 but the dealer informed me that truck starts building on June 9 and the estimated arrival date is early August. Is this sound right? I thought Scheduled to be built on June 9 means truck completely built on June 9.

Where is the truck being built and where are you located? I can tell you my experience. I put down a deposit at the beginning of October, last year, and I finally got it on December 15. The build date was November 14, in Mexico. It sat on the dock in Vera Cruz for about a week, and then went by ship to the port of Newark, New Jersey. From there it was trucked down to Virginia.

There are probably greater delays now, due to parts shortages, etc.

Very similar to what happened to me. I put a deposit down on 9/21. It was built 11/4, then sat on the dock for a month, shipped to Long Beach and then overland for delivery in Arizona on 12/11. I believe they have to wait to fill each boat, so if you just missed one, your truck waits.

Yes. Keep in mind that these car carrier ships carry thousands of vehicles at a time. It's an amazing operation. There are YouTube videos on it.

It's possible to track these ship movements in real time, on various maritime web sites. You can do a bit of detective work. Start with the port of entry (say, Newark or Long Beach). Search for car carrier ships scheduled to arrive during your time window. Then, of those, see which ones originate in Mexico. I was able to identify my ship as the "Prestige Ace." Then, I was able to track it on an hourly basis.

Glad you started this. I put a deposit down for an already allocated truck, that my dealership traded from another one. Was told 6-8 weeks, but that was just general. Hoping it arrives before the snow hits here in northern MN!

Was informed today that my build date was 7/2. Sales manager told me to expect 4-6 weeks for my truck to get to mw. Guess I'll see. nice to know that it SHOULD be before the snow falls.
