Anyone here have tips on brushing a long haired cat who is very conscience about her fur

My cat is very kind and sweet but when I brush her fur I can tell shes trying her hardest to not fuck me up even giving me warning bites, claws, and growls like a bear

She grooms herself very often so I don't need to brush her but it's great to catch the fur she sheds before it ends up everywhere

 

Maybe try a different brush... Boar hair bristles possibly. Those sticky gloves look promising, also. Lisa preferred the "old school" brown Goody brush with the hard bristles. She hated the "undercoat" brush with the metal bristles. Some cats prefer to just do it themselves.

 

I've tried the metal bristle one and rubber glove one, her daughter loves the rubber glove and frequently demands to be petted with it the mom and other daughter would rather not

 

We use a dematting brush on Samuel the ragamuffin and he hates it but it needs doing. My advice is do a little at a time frequently and reward good behavior with bribes. Sorry, treats.

Does she like to chew by chance? I give our cat an Amazon bubble package or something to chew on while I brush him a little (with the furminator). He will last a while longer with brushing if we give him a distraction and something to take his frustrations out on.
