    Sounds like paranoia. I've previously owned two DI vehicles. A 2018 Subaru WRX and a my previous 2020 Tacoma V6. DI is noisy. Just listen to a diesel.

    As a retired mechanic, I completely agree with you but with all the keyboard mechanics on this forum who think they know everything , your insight will be lost on them

    Wow, OP posted once on Jun 26..

    Either he doesn't get on the interwebs much, or some of you bit hard lmao!

    Nothing like an inflammatory thread title to bring out the trolls.

    Enjoy :thumbsup::)

    Has anyone added an after market hitch to their 2.7? I know the 2.7 has over 3000lbs towing capacity but is that with a towing package (transmission cooler, larger alternator)? Want to add one but not sure of it’s limits, don’t want to ruin the trans.

    Can't complain... at 10k miles my v6 is still nearly as quiet as any v6 of other years, just more mechanical sounds if you listen closely. The one in the video here is noisy, but i guess it is what it is. A buddies 2019 v6 has a noticeable tap to it...not as loud like the video here, but you walk up to the truck while its running you'll hear it from 6' away.

    Several have added a hitch. I didn’t keep my 2.7 long enough, but had I kept it, I would have added an aftermarket hitch for light towing. Since the 2.7 doesn’t come with a towing package I would only recommend light towing use and avoid long durations to avoid overuse/damage.

    I missed some of the features on higher trims— factory tow package, sun visor with vanity mirror, fog lights, fender flares, electronically operated sliding rear glass, infotainment center, etc.

    I have on 2 different 2.7 3rd gen Tacos, my former MT 4wd and my current AT 4WD...

    The class 3 setup and wiring is under $200 from etrailer or similar online vendors. The wiring does require you to run a lead to battery so it's more involved than some pickups where you can just split the taillight wiring at the light and put a t-connector in.

    They tow fine. You don't need a transmission cooler for standard towing of sub-2k loads. You sure don't need a larger alternator.

    The farthest I ever towed was a 300# dirt bike on a 800# rental U-Haul trailer about 500 miles, then a 600# BMW GS on the same trailer back to my starting point. But I drag shit around all the time for chores and such.

    The 2.7 is a far more reliable engine, problem is you can’t get the correct transmission anymore.
