2016 Tacoma double cab, there’s a plug that goes into the top of the tank with 2 wires going into it. Does anyone know what color wire goes into which port

Looks like it probably doesnt matter (if I am reading the schematic correctly and its just a resistance type gauge)
You should be able to use the following data to figure it out.

I found this diagram online from possibly a 2018 Tacoma. It shows what @BigWhiteTRD was talking about. It looks as if the two wires just read through the sender gage assembly. It just reads resistance (ohms) and shouldnt matter which wire goes where.

You also might want to research more if L and E3 on the diagram are wire colors. Not sure about this though, maybe someone else can clarify this.

Here is the data I noticed from the repair manual.
It appears to just be a normal resistance type gauge, so should function with either polarity.

@BigWhiteTRD , Ive been hunting that manual and cant find anywhere that shows like a wire color key or chart. Do you possibly know where that might be? Thanks.

Diagram above says BE (beige) position #2 and G (green) position #3.
#2 is the middle, #3 is the edge - applies to either engine option.
