2001 4x2 to 4x4

Has anyone on here done this conversion on their 2001 PreRunner? If so I would like to talk to you about the whole process if willing.

PreRunner is already 4x4 suspension
You'll need a Jshift Tcase and electric ADD (automatic differential disconnect) front differential.
If you go with manual front hubs (free wheeling) you'll need to change spindles.

See that’s where I’m confused. Why do I need to change the spindles? Why can’t I put all new bearings and hubs in the spindles I already have. I was under the impression a cap comes off the back of the hub/ bearing to open dock t up for the cv axles.

 

That is correct, you could just press in new bearings and hubs. Most find it easier just to swap out the whole spindle
