    Suspension Rebuild!

Recently purchased my 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport with 166k miles. Found a cracked leaf spring and took it as a sign that it’s time to replace everything ;)

    - 2021 Tacoma TRD OR shocks and springs (<1000 miles)
    - UCA’s from the same truck
    - KYB front strut mounts
    - Headstrong 1/4” spacers for front
    - General Springs HD Leaf packs (plus shackles and U-bolts)
    - Moog sway bar bushings
    - Mevotech sway bar links
    - Mevotech inner tie rods
    - Mevotech outer tie rods
    - Mevotech LCA’s

The goal is to get this thing riding like brand new again, but with a little bit of a raise. I can’t wait to see and feel the results! Will post before and after.

I see you chose the green jack, I wanted that but all they had at the time was black. It’s pretty nice still.

What did that suspension setup end up costing you all in?

make sure you torque all bonded rubber bushing joints (leaf eyes, lower shock bolts, UCA at the frame, LCA at the frame) at ride height!

Other than that, looks like a SOLID way to refresh a truck

Love the green jack, never had an issue with it.

All in I’m at $1500 in parts. Nearly half of that are the packs. If you pay a shop to install it all I’d plan on another $1500 minimum in labor.

    Solid jacks for sure.

Yeah the leaf packs will get you

I installed an Ironman 4x4 kit last year, it was about the same price that you’re at.
Just curious to compare, mine is a bit stiff and sometimes I get to thinking I should have gone the same route you are.
Usually when I hit a bump

I’ll definitely post pics and leave my reviews - first impressions and as time goes on. I did a lot of reading and studying other members’ setups before piecing mine together. Hoping I made the right choices to get what I want.

At the very least I’ll have all of the old, tired components gone.

I have heard good things about upgrading with third gen suspension. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    Looking forward to the pictures!

Thumb through my thread, you’ll see my old suspension, it was bad.

Came across a deal I couldn’t pass up on FB marketplace. These weren’t in the plans but they’ll be going on my truck, at least for now, along with the new suspension. Take your guess at which OEM wheel!

Solid job getting everything done at once.

Beware of the cam bolts on the lower control arms being rusted solid on there. I had to eventually hacksaw them off.

Thanks! To me it just didn’t make any sense to put on new leaf packs and leave everything else old and worn. I like symmetry. I rarely change anything on one side/end of a vehicle without doing the opposite side/end. It’s a “problem” that my wallet doesn’t enjoy.

Your wallet may not enjoy it but every vehicle in existence that’s had one ball joint or one tie rod or one spark plug replaced at a time wishes you were their owner instead of the cheapskate jackwagon that drives it.

My truck had one mismatched spark plug when I bought it.
Scroll through my build thread and check out the lower bushes on the front struts too.

Since nobody wants to guess the wheel, I’ll play show and tell. It’s amazing how much these change the look of a 2nd Gen. Much more aggressive!

Well, we’re on hold. Cam bolts were seized on both sides and I had to do some torching and cutting to get them off. Dealer can’t get them in until Tuesday.

Honestly if all this old crap came off without a hitch I would have been shocked.

    Stay tuned!
