Will my new wheels stop the rubbing (285/75/16 tires)?

Based on my research, you will not have any clearance issues with 255s and stock wheels. However, I am not speaking from personal experience.

When I ran 285/75r16 (33s), I had stock off-road wheels (16x7, +25 offset), and 1.25" wheel spacers with 2" lift. This required front mud flap removal and fender liner molded with heat gun.

Before that setup, I had stock wheels and 265/75r16 (32s) with no lift and no clearance problem. Added 1.25" wheel spacers and then my tires hit the mud flaps, but not the cab mount.

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the front mudflap?

I'm wanting to go 285/75 but I'm afraid of the possible rubbing. I want to keep my stock OR wheels if possible.

I have 265/75 with 1.25 spacers but have absolutely no rubbing. Curious as to why you seem to rub with the spacers and 32" tires.

So true. I’m to the point where I may just do my own the old school way.

Mud flaps behind the front tires.

I'm wondering why you don't have any rubbing. My 265/75r16 would rub a lot when turning into driveways. Do you have a lift?

    Oh, I dont have those.

No, just stock OR suspension. I have the Cooper St Maxxes.

I rubbed once, and have been trying to replicate it but I cant. Not even on my steep driveway while backing out.

I posted pictures on the "what have you done to your Tacoma" thread.

    I'm honestly surprised.

What tire brand did you have.

I imagine if you rubbed once, it can happen again with wheels fully turned and compressed. Do you take your truck off-road?
Honestly, I don't mind a minor rubbing off-road. It's just annoying when backing out of a parking spot and loud rubbing scares my passengers and pedestrians.

I had BFG KO2s in 32, 33, 35, and now 37s. Also currently have 35" Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Yeah, I would do my own alignment if I knew how to do it. I looked into it on YouTube. Just haven't taken the time to try it.

My driveway is steep, and I thought it would make me rub since the suspension does compress quite a bit when i turn into it. Funny enough, when I did rub that one time. I was backing out of a flat driveway.

I haven't wheeled it yet since I got the Spacers last week.
