Your choice, but I wouldn’t recommend a HAM Radios. If you do have him I would also recommend getting GMRS as well. My preference is a GMRS radio. From all people i’ve met out on the trails and in the Tacoma groups I’m in they all are running GMRS at least around here. Also you don’t have to take a course to get certified to use a GRMS. I’m sure the ham guys will jump in on this and say it’s better, but GMRS is just my preference. I know HAM is a stronger signal and better for long range, but I’m not putting all that time into studying to take a test to getting certified to use HAM just to go off-roading.

 

Definitely makes sense. If you're running with a group, chances are you won't need the power and distance of a HAM anyway.

On the other hand, can a GMRS talk to ASTRONAUTS?!

@beorn the fat you got jokes!! Don’t forget you still owe me a 6 pack of good IPA! As far as the mall overlanding comment I have to say that was a pretty good one. It did make me laugh. This is one from the Jamboree last weekend up at the AOAA. I share somemore once I get them uploaded.

Thinking of ordering front bump stops and hoping they come in too before next weekend. Not that I really need them.
