Wow yeah that makes it much more apparent, thanks for that. I don't go in the water much these days, but we're starting to take our daughter to the beach more and it's good to know this. Much easier to spot than I had thought

Yeah especially good to know with a kiddo. (Always more fun when kids like the beach too! I know a few who were terrified of sand at first haha)

And I've found out that I use my bumper to set things way more than I thought I would. (Drinks, lunch, cameras, etc)

@ any other cat owners here I can't remember

If your cats aren't on a dominantly wet food diet I strongly recommend switching over to it. The wife and I had to take her older cat into the vet for emergency surgery last week because he developed crystals in his bladder and was having trouble peeing, it can be a life threatening condition and is more prevelant in male cats. Apparently it happens alot more with cats that are fed a dry food diet since they're not getting enough water from the food they eat. Also a cat needs 3.5-4.5 FL Oz of water per 5lbs of weight so I've never had a cat that drinks enough water :/

He's doing "okay" now but there's still a long recovery period and he won't really eat or drink on his own yet. The missus has had to take a week plus off work so she can pump him full of fluids and give him is meds on time

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up in case your family is like our family and your pets are your children.

We know the real reason they all drown is they ate food and swam without waiting 30 minutes.

UTI's is nothing new, that's why they sell special dry food for it. I've only had one cat that's had it and once we changed the food to specific UTI blend it was never an issue.

I guess I'm just an inexperienced cat dad then cause it was new to me lol

Also that's really good news that they sell a dry food version of the medicated stuff. We just bought the case of the wet stuff that the vet sold us, didn't know their were different options

    Stock again- rip slug

my guy does have issues at times where he sits for long durations "peeing". He's really starting to get into wet foods more, guess ill start implementing it 3-4 times/week with the dry for better water intake.

I think most of the name brands have a special formula for it. It is crazy watching the cat whine and walk backwards like he's in a matrix glitch or something.

Thanks for the heads up, yeah ours are primarily dry food...one of them won't even touch wet food which is kind of weird. We do get them the crazy expensive medical grade kind due to their weight issues and what not so hopefully that helps. I think when people buy the super cheap stuff its like feeding them fast food their whole lives and it will def result in health issues later

The water thing especially is really important, when my wife's cat died in 2019 it was after he stopped drinking a normal amount of water for just 2 days. The vet told us with cats especially, their kidneys are crazy sensitive to dehydration and if you notice a lack of water intake it means vet visit pronto. Unfortunately for him it was too late and they were already shutting down.

Glad to hear your little guy is on the mend. Cats are masters at hiding illness until it's so bad that it's obvious.

Last time I went my lady Dr got to finger me butthole. If she wasn't so good looking I'd have been more upset.

wife - 'You should see your doctor and get looked at'

    me - 'No I'm fine'

*cries inside - I'm not fine, I'm not fine at all*

Bro that's been me a lot lately.

    Worst part?

My sciatica was hitting hard again the day before I pulled my starter; working on the 4R the next day was painful as fuck.

We need to take care of ourselves

*meanwhile, ignores all pain and doesn't go to the doctor*

It just feels like there's no time, but I know deep down it's more likely because I'm afraid of what I'll hear lol.

The time issue is real though, but the reality is I make time for a lot of other things and my own health should be a priority
