I can feel the frame of my driver seat, especially while off road. The cover is just now starting to fray, but the real issue is the padding is just worn out.

I doubt that I can find *good* seats from a 10-year-old wreck. I'd like to still have side airbags.

Has anyone found after market or something from another model that will swap in?

Find a seat upholstery shop and have them re-stuff the seats. Its probably just the foam that has flattened. I have to say though even with my fat ass the seats in my '11 are still fine.

Here is another vote for upholstery shop.
I know everyone has their own definition of “reasonably priced”.
But some of the foam they use now is NICE. Super comfortable.

Maybe give one of the local shops a call?

^^ It's always easy to quickly remember why I avoid this area of TW.

I can't help you OP on which seats will have side airbags but I can tell you that any Tacoma seat from 2005 to 2021 will bolt in your truck.

I think you will be surprised at reasonable cost from most upholstery shops.

You could probably find a seat with SRS at a reasonable price at a scrapper yard.

Now, you need to connect the SRS from the seat into your truck's airbag firing system. Not sure, if you want to monkey about with the wiring in that system.

Frankly, the upholstery shop is a more direct path.

It's nothing more than a standard electrical clip that should be the same across all 2nd gens with SRS right?

The upholstery shop path is what I did...to a couple of cars. Plus you can have some fun and add heated seats and stuff like that if you want to. I think you will find its not as expensive as you think. But you are going to be without that vehicle for probably a week.

You can get replacement foam from Toyota that isn't too expensive. I believe Toyota sells the foam for the seat base and back separately. There are a few threads on here.

My drivers side seat by the door was gone. I recently installed wet Okele seat covers for front/ rear with seat heaters and lumbar support. Absolutely love them, the foam is nicely placed too. They have a direct group buy on here 2x a year which helps with the price. Custom made with about 8 week turnaround period.

The wife and I are looking forward to having heated seats this winter.

It's hard to tell, the covers provide some additional padding? My driver seat has a small 3" slice, like someone had a blade in their back pocket sticking out or something. Covering the hole and having some added padding would be nice. Easily installed by yourself or an upholstery shop required?

Fully padded seat covers with 1"+ foam as oppossed to just a "fabric cover". It took me about 3 hrs to install 2 front seats and rear 60/40 bench. The hardest part is working underneath the front seats. Tip** Wear vinyl gloves to keep the grease off of your hands and transferring to the neoprene.

Lumbar support and heater pads are mounted on 8" Velcro strips which allow your to get the heat pad and lumbar where you need it. Example, my wife likes her back heating pad a little higher. So I put that where she wanted it and then placed the lumbar where she wanted it also (lower than heat) using their Velcro system.

After you get used to doing it, taking off the seat covers to adjust the heat/lumbar takes about 30 min total.

I took my truck to get detailed and interior shampooed before installing them. It helps from having any left over smells "under" the neoprene. Fresh start with clean upholstery.
