    Hell yeah. The more expensive these new and used 4x4s get, the better goin the conversion route looks. My 06 is aging well. Might need to start collecting parts.

    First part I got was the hubs, that’s what really forced me to get everything else:D I will say it’s probably best to get the transmission as close to your start date as possible so you get the most out of your warranty

    Any of you guys ever consider having a shop swap out the transmission for you, then handling all the rest on your own on a separate weekend? My biggest worry seems to be swapping the tranny since I have a shoulder that isn't great and overhead stuff is not fun for it. If they just do the tranny first will the truck be drivable or does it all need to go on together?

    The only issue I see with that is I made my custom crossmember while the new trans was attached. I don’t think I could have made it without that reference but that’s just me and my skill level

    I might be fine tho. The old shaft had the slip yoke in the front, it just went inside the transmission. Ig I’ll find out

    You definitely need to fix it. The slip joint is needed so your suspension can articulate without binding the driveshaft. Your old shaft had a slip yoke at the transmission and another just after the carrier bearing.

    What’s throwing me off is my old one looked just like this and there’s no other slip yoke except for at the transmission. And I wheeled it pretty hard with no issues.

    I took it to an experienced shop nearby and they didn’t say anything. I explained what I did and why I was needed it shortened

    My prerunner driveshaft looked almost just like the 4wd version. Just too long. But I also have a 4-cyl so it had a flange at the front like the v6 4wd.

    Yea from the little research I’ve done, Toyota designed 2 separate carrier bearings for 2wd vs 4wd. The carrier bearing is actually SUPPOSE to move in the middle on v6 prerunners to allow the slip yoke to slip. So in theory, my setup now is technically a factory setup bc I haven’t changed anything, CB still moves and the front still slips. I think I’m good. Not many people have this problem so I’m still figuring it out

    Yea when I was reviewing 4wd conversion info, I only saw the 4 cylinder people like you and @Brian422 so I just assumed my driveshaft would be the same
