As with all things wheel related, I'm super confused. It's my understanding that 1st and 2nd gen wheels have different offsets. From the pictures that I have seen, though, I can't tell the difference between the stock steel wheels from late 1st gen and early 2nd gens. Any key details to tell them apart in pictures and in person?

I'm looking into replacing my 14" wheels with the 15" from the later 1st gen as 14" tire choices are getting limited.

I pulled off the 15" stock steel wheels and rims from my 2014 4x2, and sold on Craigslist to someone with a 1st gen Tacoma. He later told me they didn't fit, even though it looked like they should when he came to buy them. Fortunately for me he didn't want his money back, and he probably resold them and made a profit.

I’m not sure if the offset is what will make the difference, rather the lug spacing. I just replaced my 96s rims with 15x8 with a -19mm offset. The lug spacing was 5x4.5
