Loose spring in shift lever assy

I took the covers off my shift assy in the cab in an effort to remedy the stiff shifter problem. I’ll get to the transmission linkage later but noticed a loose spring inside. It’s probably minor but I can’t find any diagrams that show where it should connect. Any ideas? If you zoom in you can see it dangling.
