So I have to install the lower skirt trim piece (following the slope) on this deck solo. I have 2 pieces of 1x5x18' Azek, so there will be a joint (I'll scarf it). Any tips on making sure those two pieces align properly for a nice straight run/edge? Can't use temporary screws as I'm using the plug system screws

Just thought of an idea that may work. I'll square up one butt end on each and lay both on the ground end to end/flat and abutted. I'll use a scrap piece to screw both together so it's like one long piece. I'll lay it up along the lower edge and will mark a line. Disassemble and install with any screw holes facing in. I can even attach with screws on each end and then trim those off for the bevel cut. Use scraps to prop it up if it sags.

 

If you put a scrap piece behind the two to screw together use a piece of pressure treated scrap not the pvc. I had done something similar for a skirt on my shed. The pvc doesn’t hold together that well.

 

Also remember that pvc boards shrink a little over time.

 

Good tip, thanks. I have a 6' piece of 1x4 PT i could use. I may cut the bevel on one end first, so at least one end is in it's final position.

Hydronic tubing all installed , just need to brace the manifold locations

 

Kind of reminds me of the Hot Wheels tracks I built as a kid.

 

Except way nicer lol. Takes some skill to keep everything nice and straight and the bends that nice (having just done my own radiant tubing...it's harder than it looks even with the remesh)

 

Can I venture a guess that the void in the tubing at the bottom left corner is where a base cabinet is going?

Is it spaced to miss interior walls, as well, or do you just make sure you run fasteners between the tubes?

 

Yes , all interior walls were laid out on the poly with permanent marker and we avoid them as much as possible , anywhere we have to cross under a wall we use extra straps so the tubing cannot move during pour and I take a picture of tubing locations with my tape measure in the picture against an exterior reference wall so I can locate the area to avoid later when I go to fasten the plates down

 

Wrapped up that deck skirting job today. Estimated 6 days (it's just me), but knocked it out in 4. I hate Azek. Gate is for access to Propane tank. Hung nailers off the rim/band joists and attached 2x6's horizontally off those. Hung everything off those. Added some 1x4 PT to the back of every 6th board to stiffen things up. 1x4 PT nailer (screws) all along inside of bottom edge.

Is my closet too low? I have a standard closet, not a walk in one. The opening is just a hair over 80". Maybe 80 1/4" if I squoosh the carpet down.

What options do I have for adding sliding doors? I really don't think an 80" door would fit.

 

Try wood doors... Cut a bit of the bottom. Good to go

 

Rebar / remesh all chaired , aluminum screed / control joints all fitted and levelled , just going to remove aluminum screeds and prime & paint them
