Do I need a 4 channel amp or 6 channel?

Noon question but I have a 2019 dbl cab, non-JBL. I have added the Subaru tweeters, Kicker door speakers front and back. I want to add a 50 watt per channel amp. With the factory wiring harness do I need to buy 4 or 6 channel amp?

If you're are going to use the OEM wiring 4.

 

i had the same question talked to local stereo guy he said 6 but that makes no sense to me when the fronts have a crossover

 

6 gives you more flexibility in the event you decide to bi-amp the front (you have to run wire for this), or bridge the last two channels for a subwoofer.

 

What do you want to do?

Easy button, four channel and power the stock four channels you already have.

Want to run 2 way active up front, plus rear fill, get a six channel. Plan on adding a processor, since running active means you have to add crossover points for every channel.

Want to run four channels and bridge two to power a small sub? Get the six channel or a five channel with a dedicated subwoofer section.

Knowing what would work best for you involved knowing exactly what you have in mind, what your level of knowledge is, how involved of an install you want to get into.

 

Correct. Or what I did, 8 channel with built in dsp. 4 channels for the front, 2 for the rear and 2 bridged for the sub
