Arizona monsoon has arrived, went out to dinner tonight and right as we were walking out of the restaurant wind knocked a palo verde tree onto my car, luckily I was able to pull out.

Worth fixing? Anyone has an idea of how much it would be?

    How much is your deductible?

I’d bill the restaurant for damages

$100, I’m sure if I go to a shop myself w/o insurance I’m looking at paying over my deductible.

Yeah, definitely submit it through your insurance and get it fixed on the restaurant's dime. I wouldn't wait too much longer to submit the claim. A good shop might be able to do (PDR) paintless dent repair on the roof and buff a good chunk of the scratches, but it won't be 100 percent right unless it's repainted. (Can't tell how deep the scratches are.)

We had another good 50mph monsoon dust storm this evening. I'm sure those trees will be all over the roads tomorrow morning. They grow like weeds, but break like glass. You gotta keep them trimmed way back. Plus there's the issue of palo verde beetles, which are practically prehistoric.

But yeah, sorry about your truck. Hopefully you can get it fixed soon.

That’s an easy fix at a good body shop. I’d guess they would respray the roof and it would be around $2500. Just a shot from the hip. $100 is fantastic deductible. Pay that and be done with it.

Did you document the incident with the police, or at least with the restaurant? Some insurance companies are fussy about police reports. I agree though, I'd put in the comp claim and get it fixed.

The claim would be filed under comprehensive, for Storm damage good luck on getting the restaurant to cover, it's an act of God.

You may get a 3 year premium increase if you report to the insurance company. Kind of increases your insurance deductible to maybe two thousand.

Restaurant has no responsibility . It’s considered a act of god . Unless you can prove that the property owner neglected maintaining the tree that would cause it to break . I would just submit to your insurance company . I doubt they will raise your premium since it happened during a storm .sorry this happens best of luck .

If you brace the branch of the Palo Verde back up and wrap 100mph tape around it, it should heal and maybe meld back into the tree.

Oh, and am sorry about your truck. That sucks. I know the feeling when tree's attack.

More than likely it's going to be filed by the insurance company as an " Act of God clause"

Unless the tree was clearly diseased or dead, then the restaurant has zero responsibility here. File this one in the "shit happens" file and get the truck fixed.

May have had less damage if you had not pulled out, but removed the tree from your truck. Something to consider next time.

Call your carrier, they are the only ones to answer your question. All we can do is guess or recount our own experiences.

In my case my comprehensive paid for something similar, no questions, no rate bump. But again, it all depends on your carrier.

AZ pinstripes are tough to avoid. Jump right out on you. And those prehistoric palo verde bugs! They drive my wif right over the edge...... We have an ornery terrier that loves to catch and release them - in the kitchen!

Comp coverage. Get on with it.

$100 deductible? Didn’t know there was such a thing any more.
