My First Truck

This is my first truck. A 2001 2.7 manual with over 500,000 miles. I know this thing will always need work but I plan on babying the thing to make it last even longer. I am the 2nd owner after the original owner passed away due to cancer. The truck sat at his sister's home for 4 years until my uncle asked them if they wanted to sell it. We arranged everything and I bought it for just $600. I still don't have my liscense so my uncle drove it home and it has been sitting in my garage since may.

Please keep this thread going with all the things you do to maintain the truck. I am curious about the nickel and dime issues (if any) that arise with a high mileage truck that sat for 4 years.

I was just checking in on TW and I saw this reply, I haven't driven the Tacoma since I bought it since I'm not old enough to drive and it needs liscense plates, registration, and insurance but so far the only thing that has broken are one of the door handles and I decided to replace the other one too. There is no major rust exept on the bumper and now there is a pile of rust under it and half of the bumper is missing.

 

Hay Jason. Sometimes a "sitting" vehicle will develop issues such as frozen brakes, dry bearings, seals, gaskets, etc...Driving it just down the street & back could prevent annoying issues. I sure wish you the best w/ this find.
