    Hi All,

    I have a new 2021 SR5 Access Cab - v6 4x4 Less than 3k on it.

I didn't notice this when I test drove the truck, but when rolling around 25 mph or lower, I notice a "rumble" kind of like if I had knobby tires on it. I don't feel it with speed above that, but when I'm slowing down especially coasting, I feel it at 25 and slower. It would be like rolling over very small rumble strips. I don't feel it in the steering wheel, but I can feel it in the seat. It's pretty subtle, but it's definitely noticeable. I had the opportunity to drive a TRD a couple of days ago and did not notice/feel the same thing.

I'm probably going to try to find the same vehicle at a dealership and see if I feel the same thing.

    Any ideas?

Did you lift the rear without spacing the prop shafts to alight or add a shim?

Is it just when coasting, what about when power is applied? Does it happen when the brakes are applied? Does it occur in neutral?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Put some weight in the bed. A little pre load and it’ll ride like a Cadillac

Especially at 25mph the "rumble" is most noticable when coasting but also when foot is on pedal maintaining speed. Is also there when brakes are applied - rumble slows with speed.

Yes, occurs in neutral - BUT, when pressure is applied to gas pedel to bring engine RPMS up - rumble disappears.
So, it seems I'm feeling the engine rocking/vibrating at 25mph and lower.
Is this an issue, or is it "hey, you are driving a truck - what did you expect, a passenger car?"

Same setup as you, 1,800 miles on mine, drives like a dream.... no rumble no tumble.

weight in bed. Or shit on the prop shafts. However I don’t know if bad things would happen if you loaded the truck down after shimming like that.

    *shim the prop shafts.
I’ll leave my typo in for all to see. I do not recommend defecating on the shafts.

    edit2:

I just lifted the rear of my truck (a little more than expected) and had the rumble. I did my own troubleshooting and added three fender washers and new bolts to the bearing support on the center of the two prop shafts. Rumble went away.

I then found a huge thread here were people were doing all sorts of shimming and crazy stuff. I don’t think that’s needed unless you really lift it. I do wonder if anyone makes a single piece shaft. Maybe a carbon fiber one. All the vibes might go away if they did that.

classic deceleration between 30 and 10mph in all but off road (those that have the good leaf springs).
tsb 1024-20 directly addresses it. i had it done and it eliminated almost all of it.
the problem is the driveshaft rattling around in the carrier bearing assembly when the truck axle rotates during deceleration.
shit leaf springs are the culprit. dealer will say it is normal. that is true. it is also unacceptable. and the tsb fixes it.

edit: fully covered by warranty but you have to get dealership to do it.

Sounds very similar to my 2020 ac. Wasn't there when you put it in neutral. Happened with my truck for about first 1200-1500 miles when new....very suttle vibration when coming to a stop. Doesn't do it now.

    Follow up.

Well, got it over to the local dealership and had them do the TSB work. They weren't too happy about it since it was 2.5 hours of labor. I can confirm that they put the new leaf springs on and a steering wheel damper. The ride has definitely improved, but it still has mild rumble when coasting to a stop. Most noticeable right around 1K-ish rpms and 20mps - especially doing down hill.

Took it back and had a tech ride along with me. His explanation was that it was the tranny shifting down and what I was feeling was engine braking.

I think I still need to get in somebody's 2021 Access cab and take it for a spin.

I still have to take it back to the dealership - when they put the damper on, they put it on the wheel alignment platform (which was out of spec) and now my steering wheel is off center SMDH!

You need to put more time in the truck. It sounds the same now as when i got my 2020 sr5 access cab. As of now a year later with 10k miles the truck performs very smooth, and quiet. It was very tight when i fist owned it.
As far as that 1k rpm complaint, i never felt it, but my buddies 2019 trd does the same around 1200 rpm....has the feel the engine is lugging, from staying 6th gear. From what the dealer told him, its normal for the way these transmissions, and engine combo's are programed....some will be more noticeable, and some like mine are fine. You can't hurt anything.
