    Hi Everyone,
I attempted to install a 3/2 spacer lift with an AAL instead of rear blocks. While the front part went pretty well, I ended up misalignment the rear differential WHILE TRYING TO INSTALL THE AAL’s. I managed to get the left side installed, but the right is visibly forward and possible inwards too. I wish I took pictures, but I had to install the tires just to get the truck back in the garage. The holes for the leaf spring pin don’t align and I can’t even get the u bolts on because how its sitting.
MY only option now is to have a tow truck take it to a shop. Have any of you successfully installed spacers or AAL’s in your garage without a lift… just a floor jack? Any suggestions on how to fix my mistake? Could I have possible installed the left AAL incorrectly? How the hell can I move the differential in my garage? Help, please!

Clamp the leaf packs together and use a hammer to beat them into alignment, a hefty punch helps too

it’s much easier to do if you completely remove the leaf packs IMO

ohhh I’ve misunderstood the problem, yep Jackstands, chocks, floor jacks, and a bunch of yanking

Let’s see if I can explain, I’ve been in a similar situation. I pulled out axle shims and then the pin didn’t line up with the recesses.

Use chock blocks up front! you’ll need your tire back on, and not lifted. Use the Jack to raise the leaf till the pin is just off the axle by putting it forward of where the axle is. One there, used your foot and slowly rock the truck back. While doing that you might need to lower the Jack of you get it where you think it’ll drop in.

This pic might help where to put the jack. You don’t want to lift any higher than to get just a bit of space between the pin and axle.
It might take some luck to get lined up right and once it is, you might need to use a breaker bar or something to move it slightly left or right, using the shock as a fulcrum.

    Always in process
Ratchet straps to pull the axle forward or backwards as needed to get the pin to line up.
Done it many times and it's only slightly sketchy

What part do I attach the rathchet straps to to get leverage? I understand wrapping them around the axle, but what else.. the leaf spring mounts?

I used the tow hitch and sliders for both sides. I was off by about 3/4" and dog-tracking like no tomorrow. Some tension and a nice kick made everything fall back into place.

Need a second person to help. This is how I got it on
    -set the back on stands
-take wheels off on both side
    -loose/remove u bolts
-set the jack to support the axle on both sides
-run the strap from the bad side of the axle to the front tow point
-ratchet the strap and use the force to line up and set on the hole. need to play with a vertical alignment by adjusting the jack on bad side.

I was able to get them to line up by just pulling/pushing on the axle. No ratchet straps needed, but that might have worked too. I had the help of a friend. YMMV
