You got jokes!! Why do you think I’ve been trying to find somebody to lead us through the park.

From what I understand, it looks like you pay at the Welcome Center when you get there.

You can meet up with @beorn the fat and myself
Saturday morning if you want. We both live in Crownsville. Probably at Starbucks in Waugh Chapel Towne Centre. Not exactly sure where we’re going to meet at yet. Do you have a GMRS radio?

Does anyone have a winch? Or a cheap come-a-long?

Im not sure anyone has said they do. Hopefully with enough straps and chainsaws we’ll be alright… though having a winch or come-a-long would be nice…

Pretty sure everyone will be running GMRS, so you may have a hard time keeping in communication with the group.
Unless somebody has a extra handheld that they haven’t planned to loan out already.

The Baofeng has easily programmable GMRS frequency capability too Chuck. That's why I have them, so I can do both. But I still might ultimately pick up a set of FRS radios, and a CB so then all my bases are covered.

I have two Kenwood handhelds. I'll check and see if they work with my truck unit. If so, I can drop them off at your meet spot?

I didn't know that. Just have to transmit to the right frequency I guess?

Just an idea but with as many people we have going now we may want to consider getting there at 9am or even earlier. Right now we have a solid 10 going and maybe 4 more. It takes about 10 minutes to checkin for them to verify your waiver and info. So that’s putting us out on the trails about 10:30 to 11 after everybody checks in. Plus keep in mind with a group this big it’s gonna take some time getting through the trails. And if we’re not out of a park by 5 PM there’s a $50 charge Per vehicle, or at least that’s what I was told when I went to the Jambo by the leader of our group. Not for sure if that’s legit or he was just trying to get us out of the park before they closed. Just my thoughts.

Those are some good points. Maybe those here can plan on getting earlier to help stagger all our arrivals.
