Just happened to notice my intake box has a broken bolt where it bolts in and not sure how to get it out or if this will cause any serious damage. Help needed

Might be able to reach it from the fender wheel well (Apron). From the back side. If not then an easy out or some sort of extractor.

How would I reach that if it goes into a pre threaded hole and it’s broke off down in there? I don’t think I can. Gonna have to extract it somehow

If you are lucky, it will be one of these below. Remove fender liner aka splash shield to access.

Ah, that's the valve cover. Looks like it is leaking. I would order new valve cover gaskets, extract bolt while it is off the truck. Or just leave it. Shouldn't cause any major issues.

Shouldn't be too bad. It's just a little 6x1.0 and it's not like it goes way down in there..

The hose has been flipped cause the previous owner had installed an aftermarket intake and I guess you gotta flip the hose to make the angle better. I just gotta get this bolt out to put the stock air box and what not back in

Center punch the bolt so the drill will not walk around and screw it up.

Get a small left hand drill bit and slowly drill the bold. Go slow and let the drill bit do the work and don't break the drill off in the bolt. If you are lucky the left handed drill will bite and turn the bolt out. If not you need to get an easy out into the hole created and back out the bolt. Again being careful to not break the easy out off in the hole.

Thank you. Hoping I can get this thing out so I can go back to the stock air box and get a bolt in there to hold it down

Like Jimmyh said, the left drill bit might bite and back it out. I’m sure it’ll be in tight as they don’t want it backing out when tightening a nut on. Getting the drilled hole centered and patience is key. Heck, if all fails, you could drill it out big, shove a new stud in with some jb weld.

In the meantime you don’t think the screw will go into that housing pictured above? That’s when I can get into big trouble if it goes into the engine. I hope Toyota isn’t stubborn enough to lead a hole directly into the engine…

I doubt the hole goes all the way through. Even if it did the stud will not likely reverse itself into the valve train area.

You could try this if you don’t have an extractor set. Stick a mini flat screwdriver on the broken off piece. Push in and twist out, left. If it moves at all, you might be able to get it all the way out. A straight oring pick might also work. Think turning a clock hand backwards. Poke it at the side and unwind. Once it sticks out some you can push down with your finger and unwind. It might work.

It's just a valve cover, there's no water jackets in there or anything. Worst case you buy or find a new one.

Even if you fudge the drilling a little bit (the drill will eagerly slip off the bolt and dive into the soft aluminum around it) you'll still have enough of a hole to get some purchase with a new 6x1.0 bolt or stud. It doesn't have to be in exactly the same place, slightly to the side would be fine.

2.5 inch lift, 285/75r16s, upgraded stereo system, Magnuson mp90 supercharger system.
Try a 1/8 inch bit. That bolt is small enough that if you drill into it a little bit then slowly reverse it might back it right out. If that doesn’t work the extractor shown should do the trick.

Weld a nut on there and the heat will help to loosen any corrosion. Then zip it out with an impact.

If you’re goal is to put back that stock air box and the other mounting points are intact I think you’ll be just fine without it.
