I've looked through several threads but nothing has caught my eye. Looking for a high quality, user friendly and stealthy dash camera. A buddy of mine has recommended the VanTop H612T in 4K. It has voice command, records front and rear and wakes up if the vehicle is hit. He has had one in his Taco for over a year and has installed these in 3-4 of his friends cars. Cost of the unit plus a few beers. I really don't want a dash or windshield mounted unit. Anyone else using one of these? Other suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

I have an autovox t9 that I really like. It’s a full mirror replacement though. I didnt want a front facing camera since i already have a garmin mini so the t9 fits the bill since it doesn’t have one built in.

these things definitely take some getting used to as the field of view is wider but objects at like 25 yds+ look like ants compared to a stock mirror.

It’s certainly lackluster. Not sure if that’s something that happens on a lot of these other mirror type screens. A lot of it has to do with the wide angle on the rear cam when running the mirror as a live video feed. I can also turn off the live/recorded rear feed and just use the mirror as a regular mirror too.

That's what I understand. If there's a problem. Just turn off the camera and the screen becomes a standard mirror.

I use rexing v3 dash cams, they are not really stealth, but I like to have the camera visible so people know they are being recorded.

Have you looked at motorcycle camera systems.

These are typically more compact with smaller cameras. Although, the recording unit (brains) is a remote mount that can be tucked into a small void on a motorcycle.

I have a vantop on my taco bc I have the topper blocked out to store tools. It works well. I had an issue with the rear camera after 8 months and they sent me a new one. It comes with a 2 year warranty.

I have the Rexing V3 and its ok for the most part, though I wish I had a buffered parking mode. One of these days I'm going to replace with a Viofo A119. That weird wedge shape seems to keep it out of the way, and its easy to mount to the gopro hanger.

From my personal experience, the further the camera is from the glass, the more opportunity for glare there is.

I've been using a Viofo A119 for years now. It's a wedge style camera so you barely see it. Works great. Came in handy about two or three years ago when I got involved in a hit and run accident. He fled and hit two other cars in the process. My footage was used to convict the driver. I believe the current model is the A119 v3.
