Yea, you just need to find out what frequency the GMRS handhelds are using then just go to that frequency on yours.

As far as needing chain saws, unless you plan on hauling in your own logs for camp fires, you won't need them.

That's ok Ryan, when I hit that big lottery I am going to have a bunch of these OR Parks like malls. All my peeps on here get lifetime free backstage passes. Reserved campsites. Utilities. Etc. I just need that seed money :frusty:

Seriously, however- what a frustrating damn day. I had a solid four hours to get the snorkel/fender installed, put the sliders and skids on. I did not know how damned FRUSTRATING trying to take out the 432 bolts, clips, and other paraphernalia to just get the MFer off the damn truck. Are these things assembled by teams of octopi and cuttlefish!?!?!? Needed less to say, I’ll have to finish putting it back together (if the rain holds out) and STILL have to get sliders/skids on. Oh…and I’m permanently out one radio antenna… HULK SMASH…end rant.

Really stoked about going and meeting up, I have straps, bubba rope, soft & hard shackles, radio, and a bottle of lube just to cover our bases. It’s going to be an early damned morning- but I expect it will be totally worth it.

Thanks for listening, now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

The chainsaw is not for cutting down trees or creating firewood.
It is for clearing the path of the trail when your on it.. Like I said in my other post if not been for the leader of our group having a saw saw we would’ve been screwed big time!! I’ll share a little details from my experience two weeks ago.

Up at the AOAA most of the trails run 4 to 11 miles for only one way traffic with no where to turn around at. There were 8 of in are group. Five of us were beginners/first timers and two first timer ladies. None of us had ever done anything like those trails before.

That being said we were on a trail that was probably about 7 miles long. Which most of that was up and down two huge mountains. For the first half mile or so was fine. The higher we got the steeper the incline got. Then the incline got so steep at the last 1000ft all you could see was blue sky. Then coming back down the other side of the mountain was just a steep, but all the way to the end. I thought it was pretty sick myself, but one of the ladies didn’t.

One of the ladies freaked and had a panic attack and refused to continue the dissent off the mountain with four people behind her. So somebody jumped in her truck and drove the truck down.

We get to the end of the trail at the bottom of the mountain and guess what? There were about 10 or more 4 to 6 inch branches that were still attached to the tree blocking the trail. We tried to pull them off the tree, but they were to big and long. This is were the saw saw came into play at. And there was no way eight of us were backing back down the trail and up and down both mountains.

I hear what y'all are saying about the time. My only concern is, having set and spread the initial meeting time and location as wide as we have, if we change it now, I worry the change may not be disseminated as widely as the initial plan, does that make sense?

I feel you, brother. When I put my Prinu on, I had a bear of a time. I couldn't get the damn threaded inserts inside my truck roof to line up. After fucking with it for about 5 hours, cussing, quitting for a beer, trying again, I ended up having Toyota near me finish the install. Apparently they had to drop the head liner and mess with the threaded inserts because somehow they had shift during my truck's life.

Huh... It was my first time at AOAA and I was solo at the Jamboree and didn't know the trails were one way! I guess I got really lucky to not run into another group or rig.

No they’re not technically one way. A lot of the trails we were on at the western side there was not enough room for two vehicles to get by on a trail.

I think we need to keep an eye on the weather as well. While I wouldn’t mind rain/storms, it’s strong storms with high winds that concern me.it’s just a 50% chance now so I’m just putting it out there as it’s already warning about strong winds-

What time do we want to make a call? I see the storms may have wind, otherwise winds light and variable, chance of rain afternoon.

Id think as late as possible tomorrow night. I’m hoping the forecast changes though.
Maybe at or below 60-70%, chance of storms with it still saying afternoon would still be a go?

If it's really crappy I'll probably pass, but if there's just a little rain them I'm still down
