Hey guys, I want to remove the decals on my bedsides because I think the truck would look cleaner without them. Since the truck is white and the decals have been on there for a while now, I want to know if anyone here has had any issues with the decals staining the paint or leaving a "ghost" behind. If they do stain the paint, is there any way to safely remove it without risking damage to the clear coat?

I removed the bedside decals from my '06. Used a hairdryer and an old credit card. Patience and a bit of heat will soften the adhesive, peel at sharp angle parallel to the bed side. Then I followed with Goo Gone. A little light sanding with 6000 grit wet paper. Wax. Done.

There remains a slight ghost, but you need to have the light at the exact angle viewing at the complimentary angle. Normal viewing angles.....no ghost.

I decided it was good 'nuff for a 15 year old truck.

BTW, my truck is also white.

Seems each truck might be different on "staining" or paint difference color, especially after 12-ish years

Seen people do hair dryer and peel off, goo gone the remaining sticking with microfiber cloth. I peeled mine off but it was in the first week of purchase and no problem at all.

Maybe it's the graphic designer in me.... but Toyota needs to update the TRD logo.... the font style is dated.

I guess I could go with something like these if the ghosting is pretty bad and cover it up

    meh......

Remove a decal then replace with another decal to cover up the 1st decal ghost.......seems silly.

Just leave the original in place.....no ghost.

But I s'pose it all depends on the look you are trying to achieve.

I took mine off my 2010 using a hairdryer and a teflon scrapper. They came right off. I used gasoline to take the glue off because i didnt have goo gone. That worked great. Buffed the area with mcguire's scratch x. I didnt notice a ghost but i did replace the factory sticker with a custom one.

Agreed. Work with an Etsy person to do your own!

It’s Pickle Rick and Evil Morty from the Adult Swim show “Rick and Morty”. That’s where the SCHWIFTY Edition part comes from too.

Warning, the show isn’t safe for (most) kids and is loaded with dark humor.

Which is why I like it.
