Hello, Hope all is well today.

I have been diagnosing my blinking AC light.

I have checked the relay, the pressure switch, the ac pressure, the ac clutch, and all of those are working fine.

A local shop told me it was an issue with the compressor after doing a recharge on the system.

How can I confirm if the compressor is shot. Would the clutch be working fine with a bad compressor?

Maybe they were wrong and it could be something else?

In another post on this forum, it mentions the possibility it could be the grounds on the compressor, or the compressor pickup sensor.

I would hate to replace the compressor if there may be an easier fix out there.

If it is not locked up, compressor performance is generally diagnosed with gauges for high and low pressures (input/output). You will have to either trust the mechanic or learn to read the gauges and try it yourself.

If the correct amount of refrigerant is in the system then the mag clutch wire should have power when the AC button is commanded on. Go directly down to the wire and see if it has 12 volts when the AC is turned on. If it is getting 12 volts then the compressor should be engaged and spinning. If it's not then it needs a compressor

If the A/C clutch is fine, and the compressor is spinning, your going to need gauges.
Just like @Arries289 said, you’ll have to look at the high and Low sides.
The compressor could be fine, maybe there is a blockage in the system?

I’m still going to go with the shop. It’s probably the compressor if everything else is good as you say?
