    getting back to this question:

I know it might look disproportionate, but if I stick with load E tires, is there a risk of losing stability with the 235/85/16’s? Or any other safety factors to consider?

my cartoon-science brain is imagining a scenario where the tire flops over while cornering, from being too tall and skinny, and having too much weight pushing sideways. Lol.

Another question regarding the 235 width: are any of you running spacers (or wheels with different offsets), to compensate for the narrower stance?

Dang, looking good. First picture I’ve seen where those tires actually look skinny!

A little bashing, had to air it down to about 12, and manipulate it up there with someone else bringing it up.

There’s really no point going 235/85r16. They are 31.7” and look funny. 265/75r16 are the same height and can be had in SL or C load which will weigh a lot less than E load 235’s.

Thanks for the info! They're a little short, minimum I'm hoping for is a true 33. Might just bite the bullet though with a heavier tire. Can't win em all!

Mounted on a 8.5" and on the truck with 40psi of air they measure right at 34". I am really heavy at just over 6k. But not mounted they were 34" also. So mount and inflate they go up almost 3/8"-1/2" then go back on the truck with a load and they come back to unmounted height. Don't think that is the case with every tire as it makes a difference what wheel width you mount on and the weight of the truck, but those were my numbers. But I can say that I am super please with the way they ride, super smooth. They are just a bit louder than the 285/75R17 KO2's I had on but I like that. I missed the sound of tire hum. We will see how long they last now.

They quite down and get stickier after some miles. Mine measure out at 34.5” on a 7” wheel.

Just got my SCS F5's in yesterday, 17x8.5 -10 offset. Thinking about putting them on 255/80R17 tires on 2020 TRD OR stock suspension, some people say they don't have any problems some people say they have rubbing. Anyone have any experience similar?

Helluva lot easier to get chain clearance on a 235 than a 265, and those 235s will plow right through snow with better traction because of more weight on the contact patch. There's trade offs to everything. To say there's no point, is missing the point.

It looks hilarious but being able to run chains up front and cutting through snow are good reasons to run them. Definitely function over form with that size, although I question why you wouldn't just run a dedicated snow tire at that point.

Snow tires are great for highway driving. But when your in the mountains, steep places in fresh deep snow. Ice underneath. That’s when chains are used, and snow tires wouldn’t in a situation like that.

Do you get a lot of extreme mountain snow wheeling conditions in Texas?

Little bit of this and that
Who says he encounters those conditions in TX? I'll back up the argument that a skinny 32" (235/85R16) makes a perfect all around tire for these trucks in relatively stock form. The hit you take on milage and braking is minimal and you get the benefits of a slightly larger tire without having to monkey around with backspacing or a cmc.

Being able to put on a full set of v-bar chains is useful in thick mud as well.

I've got a set of 285/75-16's wildpeaks on my 3rd gen 4runner currently. I have had to limit myself to cables for the front due to clearance on the UCA.
