I tried the whole adding my own cruise control trick and I think I am one of the unlucky ones whose truck was built in Mexico without the cruise control prewired in. It's been a little tough sorting through the cruise control threads to find the answer I'm looking for, but I guess it has to do with the replacing the clock springs?

Can anyone link me to or provide an explanation on whether or not I can still add OEM cruise control? Thanks!

I believe it’s just a wire from the other end of the clock spring connector over to the ECM.

A little of this and a little of that.
My 2013 Regular cab wasn't pre-wired for Cruise Control. I purchased an OEM stalk, and also bought a Rostra kit. The instructions were straightforward and my CC works great!

I used your attachment which was a big help, but my 2013 had a few things different, and I wanted mine to follow the factory diagram!
I am adding cruise control to my 2013 regular cab right now. It was not pre wired, but it was partially prewired.
It was wired right up to the clutch switch. From there it was wires up to IA1 connector. I went from IA1 connector pin #40 right to E22 connector pin #9.
I bought a cruise control kit with cruise control switch, clutch switch & wires from S8 pin #1 to E22 pin #14 and S8 pin #2 to ground.
I do have the Tacoma service manual in pdf, which makes things easier.
2011-2012 are not the same plus after 2013 things changed as well
There is a lot of great info in this forum.

I don’t quite understand the clock spring issue yet.
