I'm doing a conversion of a 1994 RHD JDM Toyota Hiace Pop-top camper van. The engine it came with was a straight 4 2RZ naturally aspirated diesel that has a lot of problems, very little power, and is impossible to find parts for. I picked up a Tacoma donor and put the engine and transmission into the van and am currently troubleshooting all the details so that it can be top of the line. I hope to install a supercharger in this soon too. This project has required a lot of custom fabrication and toggling between Tacoma forums and Hiace forums. As much as possible, I've been trying to identify parts equivalents for anything I replace so I can get it a bit more standardized. The engine was the the biggie. Here are a few pics of the current state of affairs-- let me know if you think any other details would be interesting (@Clearwater Bill, I'm looking at you)

    A thing or two...
Never heard of a diesel 2RZ. Are you sure you have the right engine code?

Good catch and a typo over coffee. It was a 3L.

Probably not 'plain'. More like 'special kind of'.
