I was surprised too. And especially surprised that the supplemental coverage wouldn't cover PT. But ya know... now that it's over I can see why. From what I saw, there was nothing that my wife couldn't do for herself just as well. About the only thing I might say PT could do, maybe, is if she had some kind of problem they might be knowledgeable enough to tell her she had a problem. But like anything else, PT claims they are absolutely necessary. Kind of like dentists, they sell fear and they are right often enough, perhaps, to get people to believe them. I mean... there are people that won't swim in the ocean because ten people a year, worldwide, get killed by sharks. Same, same, IMO.

Good morning everyone!! Great to hear your wife is making progress, Tom!! Continued good thoughts headed her way!!

Pool looks great, Kurt!! Once you get that power washer going, it's hard to stop.

Golf got weathered out yesterday - on the first tee twice only to get called back in due to lightening proximity warnings. Finally gave up. At least we had a good lunch and several hours of telling old war stories.

More rain again today - might just need to start building that ark.

Good Morning Folks. II hope the rain holds out for a little so I can get some of the old kitchen cabinets over to my Son in Laws and daughters house. Plumber was here yesterday and did a partial replumb of old sink plumbing. Electrician is coming this morning to disconnect the stove top, oven and microwave and help load them up for the scrap yard. Hoping to have all the kitchen demo'ed by Sunday night because the new cabinets are going to be delivered on Monday and installed Tuesday and Wednesday. Getting close to having it all done. Trying to co-ordinate contractors and not causing too much inconvenience is a real bummer. My jobs will be done Sunday and then it's up to the installer.

Glad to hear your wife did good on her home PT program. The therapist gave me exercises to do and the rubber bands to do them. I have been so busy working in the kitchen that I have been skipping exercising and just doing somewhat normal activities and icing. I will follow your wife's lead and do the exercises. Have to make an appointment to see him in one year. Good luck to your wife.

We are coming up on our 52nd anniversary. Time seems to have gone by fast. Would I do it again....most definitely:D

    Good morning all,
Harry Happy anniversary to you and your wife. May you have many more years together.

Tom it is good that you are up and moving around. Keep up with those exercises and the knee and leg will get stronger.

Off to guitar lessons and then on the zero turn for mowing . All in all that will take up most of the day. The grass is growing too fast and I have to mow every 3 days or so. I guess that is a product of rain and sunshine. Oh well winter is coming. Everyone be safe healthy and happy.

    Russ

    Morning all:
I knew I had it somewhere, what do they say-out of sight, out of mind!
Actually forgot that I had it, and haven't used it in a long time, the culprit is a bore sighter, hopefully it will save me some time and ammo while sighting in the 660 that I recently acquired. It was readily accessible, and I moved it around more than once, but for some reason I just though it was another pair of binoculars that I had that were in the box.

    Good morning everyone!!

We got hammered by a huge line of thunderstorms last evening - first storm hit at about 4 with light rain. 2d hit about 6 and took out the power - reports of roads closed all around us with trees/power lines down. After that it was a series of heavy downpours with lightening strikes hitting the ground all around us. The dogs were not happy. Finally turned to light rain about 9. Power was restored by 2 AM.

Nothing like our whole house generator to make life seem normal in the midst of chaos.

    More rain today. Ugh.

Electric backup is a must these days, at least for us. Home buyers think so too. Added value is more than your investment. Meanwhile, looks good in the net worth column.
Mowed again yesterday.. almost done, started to sprinkle, finished just in time, whew! Took a chance, worked out. Sometimes you get the kewpie, sometimes you just get wet.
Noticed a 4" strip of grass left in the middle of a pass, mulching blades turn up on the ends.. presto, dull. Changed blades, add it to the list, move on.. no time to dilly dally.

Good Morning Folks. We got hit with the storm last night as well. Plenty of thunder and lightning and then the heavy rain. Never lost power though. Trees were down in several areas, but none near me .
Have a great day folks and be safe.

    Morning all:
Agree 06, the net worth column is looking good, just remember--what goes up usually will eventually come down, just wondering when there will be a correction due to circumstances beyond our control !
I keep thinking about my garden tractor, and now e bikes, that cost more than my brand new 1966 Impala did, and the amounts now showing on a bank/brokerage statement or the worth of other assets, such as a home, as just numbers, what good does it do if you you need 3m to buy the same things as 300k once did, or 300k to buy the same things as 30k once did, or 30k to buy the same things as 3k once did!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Gals! Happy second Saturday to ya!

Just finished some blueberry pancakes I made for everyone, so I have an excuse for not working fast! Totally blew yesterday on my errands - was a nice day so I thought I'd run over to Kyle to see about some plants - which they had none of, so I thought, not that long over to San Marcos and WRONG. Soon as the highway went past my other options - 0 to 20 mph the whole 15 miles. Got home with not what I wanted (becuase I had to get SOMETHING after that waste of time!), and took a headache nap for the rest of the afternoon. So, it's Yesterday Today!

I've given up on the whole house generator for this year, been through 3 contractors and gone nowhere. They are all busy gouging and installing 20K units for larger margins than my little 7K needs. Oh, and the gen people are citing "supply and demand" for raising the price on the backorder (12-16 weeks) units. We never lost power in Snowmageddon, so I will wait until next year.

    Kurt,

Police, Fire, EMS stations have a "priority power supply" so when everyone else is out, often they are still up and running. My daughter lives on the same power feed as the local Fire Department, so she had power. No water due to every "dripping" then burst pipes during snowmageddon.

I've already put in 10,000 steps this morning. Got a walk, and a push mower to trim around things I miss on a riding mower (1.5-acre yard). Time to cool off, shower, then spend the afternoon with my wife. Some days very lucid and cognitive, other days talking about having a long visit with her Mom, Sister, and Dad. They have all passed away, but telling me wants the house down for a family gathering. She has rallied back numerous times over the years, last we had discussed our final wishes. She was very clear "when it's time, let me go". So yesterday with the Doctor in the room, he asked her to confirm DNR. She didn't understand, so he said "if you have a heart attack, do you wish for CPR" Oh yes! She really didn't seem to understand what that conversation was all about, but she is still fighting.

My wife is on water and ice chips. She keeps asking "what did you have for dinner?" so I just mention "vegetarian lentil roast" (my vegan sister makes that, and my wife won't even taste it). She is always telling me I don't know how to cook. Haven't gone shopping in two weeks. The sirloin was in the freezer, potatoes in the fridge, some salad that was still good. Hmm, good thing I don't how to turn on the grill. Can't share this one with her, but trying to remember to eat! I think I earned my grilling badge.

    How're you doing?

 for you and your wife.

Glad that you are doing okay. So sad about Annie. Tears should be forth with and coming. She has been a big part of your family for a lot of years. I am doing good according to the surgeon. Thanks for asking Sue. He told me I don't need to continue with therapy because I am doing so well. I will do exercises at home and try to get the knee back to as normal as I can. Actually I think demo'ing the kitchen has helped advance my knee health.

Have as good a day as you can and be safe.
