    Hey everyone. I'm looking to upgrade my front rotors to a slotted set up, new pads and front and rear extended brake lines. Anyone have any experience with this and or brands they use.

    My first gen had some, couldn't tell a difference between them and the smooth ones. Waste of money on a Taco in all honesty.

    Power Stop kit on my 2015, works just fine. Many arm chair brake experts on TW will have an opinion, but, the Power stop kit (rotors, pads and hardware) on my Tacoma works as well as the factory brakes. Your dough, your decision.

    My truck has a bit of a hard time stopping. I need something to help that for sure. I was thinking either Stoptech or EBC

    Just be ready to keep the slots clean of dust and debris, otherwise it could actually inhibit brake performance.

    IMO if you are going to go slotted I would go with the NAPA slotted Ultra Premium coated rotors. No matter what I would get coated rotors that way they won't rust as fast.

    The cheaper the rotors generally the faster they will warp or wear. You get what you pay for. Many people swear by OEM rotors and they are great rotors but they aren't coated and they do rust.

    I recently replaced my rotors and front pads. I used Hawk LTS Ferro-Metallic pads and Napa Ultra Premium (solid) rotors. I strongly considered the slotted ones but they were like $130 compared to ~$88 and everything I've read says more maintenance and no real stopping difference.

    The EBC ones I was looking at are black coated so I would think they would be good.

    If the rotor is not internally redesigned for enhanced cooling, the performance will be like stock. Only StopTech and DBA completely redesign rotors for enhanced cooling to improve performance (that I am aware of), other brands like EBC, Power Stop ect are just taking the OEM design and adding slots and holes, which will not aid in performance and in the case of holes can actually hurt it.

    I 2nd this set up. I bought the TRD pads and stop tech slotted rotors. I'm just waiting on the front brakes to wear out to replace.

    Slotted really isn't necessary on trucks. Drilled are not recommended especially if you off road. Just use OEM blanks or other good quality blank rotors like from NAPA are fine. If you plan to not offroad and do performance braking from higher speeds and cornering then use drilled and slotted. Also flush the entire system and use high temp synthetic fluid.

    Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads are the best you can get. Part # 0976.20. Have to buy thru O’Reillys or a distributor.

    Anything but drilled rotors.

    None... yet.
    I put some slotted rotors on my FXT back in the day and would do small autocross events. Couldn't tell a difference and later read a few articles that noted the only real benefit to the slots is if you do a lot of braking in the rain as they help displace water on the rotor faster...

    I'm running the Stoptech cryo slotted rotors and TRD pads with braided brake lines and noticed an improvement in braking (less fade and better pedal feel). I used to get predictable brake fade and horrible vibrations from the rotors heating up at the same spot driving over a local pass and it is a non issue now.

    I haven't had issues with dirt getting packed into the slots and I wouldn't hesitate to install them again.

    I wanted to upgrade my truck but ended up going oem rotors, oem pads & rebuilt the calipers. Major improvement in braking overall. Aftermarket or not it improved.

    Another big improvement can be had by flushing your brake fluid, which is supposed to be done every couple years as it absorbs water over time and reduces the boiling point making it less effective and more prone to fade.

    Had them on for 50k miles and better stopping than stock were. I towed a trailer and a boat. No problems with dirt loading or cracking at the holes.
    Just finished a 5000 trip FL to UT/CO great highway stopping and on Moab trails and Imogene Pass.
    Some fool cut into my lane and stopped so at 80mph I had all the ABS firing off and stopped where I aimed it. Tacoma was loaded with camping gear too.
    How's that for a recommendation.

    Recently changed out mine, got the Power Stop K137 kit on Amazon, https://amzn.to/3zahjDp, worked out great for me.
    I had similar breaking feeling like you with the stock breaks, the truck felt heavy when coming to a stop.
    This kit came with all the hardware too which was great, pads, rotors and pins. After I changed them I went on a 1600+ mile road trip and they worked perfect.

    I recently had to do a pad/ rotor change, which ended up including calipers. I went with the Powerstop Z36 kit and their calipers. At the same time I flushed with fresh DOT 4 fluid and am pleased with the results. I have better braking than when I purchased truck (used).

    Was really wanting to do the 4runner brake upgrade since I was getting pulsing rotors every 10-15k miles, but decided to get the autozone Duralast pads and rotors. The “high end” version. 3 year replacement on the rotors and lifetime on the pads. So if I ever have to turn them, I can just go get new ones.
