I've seen a post in another thread that made me wonder if there is a check list before taking your truck off-road.

1: fill fuel tank and any jerry cans
2: disable side curtain airbags using the RSCA button
    3:
    4:

    etc.

Personally, I make sure I have my emergency kit ready to go. First aid kit, flashlight, water, jumper cables, bug spray, fire starter, tire repair kit, portable air pump, shovel, snatch strap, warm blanket.

If you don't have these things, I'd say work towards getting a kit set up to include them. Especially if you go out hunting or fishing deep into the wilderness by yourself.

If you're just going offroading on trails, I'd say you should definitely bring a buddy with you.

Water, food, hiking shoes, recovery gear, tools, and most important thing to bring is some common sense.
