Good question... Is it an OEM driveshaft?

I assumed that it was OEM. It has the Spicer sticker on it like the rear driveshaft does. I can take a pic of the sticker. I sat there rotating it for awhile feeling like an idiot.

I thought only the OR 05-15 have zerks straight through. All the gen3 now have zero zerks

IDK I'm just following the Maintenance guide on the stickied thread. It says 3 zerks on rear, which I have, and 2 zerks on the front, but my u joints have no zerks. Mine is a Limited. Maybe it had none from the factory?

Different model but my '17 SR5 DCLB only has them on the front shaft (2) and none on rear shaft.

Do you know what year of the 3rd gens they removed even the front shaft ones?

It only turns when you are in 4wd. Are you in 4wd more than a couple hours a year?

I always figured that was the reason.

Yeah that makes sense to me but all the maintenance threads say there are zerks to grease so I want to be sure I'm not missing something here.

My '13 Offroad (also a spruce mica - good choice OP!!!) that I used to have had two zerks on the front shaft, three on the rear shaft. Not sure about other trim levels.

Hmm it’s possible I got my “facts” wrong. In any case I got a new rear propeller waiting at the dealer for me. I’ll ask the parts god there while I’m in.

Front driveshaft grease zerks are in the center of the U-joint.

Yup, they can be a pain to get to sometimes so make sure you check that @sprucemica

If you still dont see any, Id say the u-joints have been replaced at some point. I believe Spicer offers a non-greasable version of that joint as well.

    My '06 has 5 zerks.

I just replaced all 5 U-joints. Used the Spicer joints with the zerks on the end caps. Spicer also has a set with the zerks on the spider of the U-joint.

My point, you could replace the U-joints on the front shaft with U-joints and zerks.
