    Hi all,

Just got off the phone with the dealer. I told them that my '10 with aftermarket wheels has "the shimmy". They did verify the steering wheel shake at around 65 but tell me that the wheels are difficult to balance. I've never heard this before so I'm not sure how much I can trust their work. Can anyone recommend a good shop to get my wheels balanced?

    TIA!
    Chris

The slight shimmy at 65mph seems to plague all of the years for some reason. I got rid of mine by 90% by getting new wheels and having them balanced. I'm going to get the driveshaft rebuilt and I hope that will do it.

Yeh, I've seen the sticky on the subject but I don't get how it can be difficult to balance wheels. Getting that statement without even trying makes me suspect. This is why I was looking for the local shop recommendation.

It depends. I had wheels that couldn't be balanced before on my other vehicles because they were out of round from damage. There was another member here recently that purchased new wheels that couldn't be balanced either because it appears that there was QC issues so it can happen.

When mine had an issue, the tire guy spun the wheel on the machine and showed me where the runout was and it was very apparent. You might want to try a speed shop versus the dealer as I find that they are much more inclined to show you the problem in person.
