Oh yea, almost forgot @RustyGreen does this compete with your smoking forklift? I haven't taken a long trip in the beater in a while and the valve stems seals are a little brittle these days...

Almost sounds like a tractor too

I don't really notice the forklift smoking when driving it, just suddenly notice the blue haze has filled the garage and it lingers. Spends more time idling than moving - a long journey is 100 feet round trip.

I do love the sound of industrial engines, they sound so relaxed built for maybe a 1800 rpm max top end. Sometimes I start the International 140 up and just listen to it idle. :)

This one isn't even quiet at idle.

Today was the first time really taking it out much (1+ hour) in a couple months. Pretty sure it's just from sitting. Earlier on I was sitting in the McDonald's drive-through and noticed I was smoking everybody out. Ooops :rofl:Guess it's time for some Rotella T6 15w40 oil.

Have you done a compression test on it? If I remember correctly you bought it with the loud exhaust on it, seems lots of youngsters put them on and drive around town in second gear all day, that has to accelerate engine wear.

I really want to, but don't want to open a can of worms... The car starts every time I ask it and idles pretty damn good. Just smokes a little bit. There's no cat to worry about plugging up so I can let er' smoke away. Never rebuilt an engine before and there's no way I'd pay someone to do that on this. Everybody is telling me to do a turbo engine swap, but my "fast" car days are over. I like cruisers; roll down the windows and just go nowhere specific.

Ironically the car was owned by a 50+ year old woman :rofl:She has had the car since I was 14 I wanna say (I'm 31 now). There's been some kind of "fart can muffler" on it since. If I keep the car it's probably gonna get a Magnaflow cat-back. The current one is a decent stainless setup, but the muffler tip welds are already cracked.

How many miles? If she drove in town a lot (short trips, engine cold) the oil control rings could be sticky with sludge. Does it blacken the oil right after you change it?

The body has probably 250K on it by now, the engine unknown. We replaced it in 2006 and I can't for the life of me remember why the old engine went bad. The oil has stayed decently clean since I changed it when I bought it. I used Rotella T5 10w30 so it's a decent cleaning oil. Although with the short trips in town and using oil it's probably mostly now a combination of Rotella 15w40 and Castrol Edge 0w40 by now  I just don't drive it enough. I tried to make a work beater out of it, but that didn't really work out. I haven't driven it to work since May 12th. I might take it to work Saturday.

I put a trail cam out to see what the cat did when I wasn't home -- took hundreds of pictures of a swishing tail as the cat dozed on the washing machine.
