Hub nut for Manual hubs

These should be the last parts I need for the bearing replacement. Now I'm waiting for the press plates and the DOM tube I ordered to finish the press fixture I'm making (for pressing hub through bearing)

 

Got a sheet of 3/16 steel. I guess we're going to figure out a way to fab a rear diff skid... eventually.

 

Pressed the bearings in to the spindles. Still waiting to finish fabbing a press fixture for pressing the hubs. That might get done today, who knows.

 

Tested the 5.29 3rd member elocker by hooking it to the truck...

She's good to go

 

Started tearing everything down last night.

Disconnected the elocker, driveline, brakes and got the axles ready to slide out.

 

Back at it this morning

Out with the old...



Cleaning gaskets sucks



Glad I don't have to do it

Actually... I did mine, I'm just better and faster at it.



In Robert's defence, he's having to do that stupid cork OEM gasket. Mine was just Permatex.

Clicked off about 200 miles of my break in (gears) today.

Yes I stopped for cool down every 50 miles or so.

Gas tank skid and elocker motor guard are here


Getting the paint on the gas tank skid tonight so we can put these on tomorrow after work. Not going to paint the motor guard.

Just to get the thread, kind of, up to date.

Did a Mod day a couple weeks ago... Installed @Blue Canary new/used bumper.




Also installed the 5.29 front clamshell with Harrop locker.

 

Ordered and recieved:

New dust boots for the calipers.



Boots for the Upper Ball Joints


Picked up some rear shoes




And I'm going to borrow a trick from some of the old schoolers. I'm going to clean the grease out of the manual hubs and start using some high quality PTFE spray grease instead. Less likely to collect grime and will hopefully solve the pgantom squeeking I can't seem to find.




Looks pretty obvious what I'll be doing this weekend.

EDIT... also need to add switch for the BMW seat power this weekend.

 

Got the "spare set" of spindles done and installed.




Wired up the front locker

 

This passed weekend we did a day trip... started the break in on the front diff... and had some fun in the process.

 

Replaced:
Front brake piston boots
SPC upper ball joint boots

EDIT *** For the record, grease guns, are fucking stupid. I hate them.

Cleaned:
Cleaned manual hub bodies, and lubed with PTFE lube instead of grease

Fixed:
Both of the hub end dust covers on my CVs were a bit out of shape. Fixed them and greased where they come close to the dust covers on the back of the hubs.

Chasing a wheel speed squeek that is driving me nuts.
Thought it was brake pads... replaced, nope.
Thought it was a wheel bearing... replaced, nope.
Hopefully something I did today fixes it, or I'm stumped.
