    Want to know the RI shenanigans?

    So the RI inspection database does not talk to the registration database for uninspected new vehicles.

    If I buy a NEW vehicle, it does not need to be inspected as new. It needs an inspection within 2 years or 20k miles, whichever happens first. However, if you just DO NOT get inspected, then the inspection database will not flag the registration database that you are not in there, only if you do an inspection and then are late with it. So if you buy a new (or lease?) a vehicle, RI never knows it's not inspected.

    That said -- if you are in a collision and are not inspected, your insurance can elect not to play ball, so I have to get in there and actually do it instead of ignoring it. Just need to put my seats back in and recalibrate so the airbag lights aren't on :rofl:

    In the pre emissions days, vehicles in MA had to be inspected twice a year. $1.00 each time. Then it went to $2.00. Of course if you knew someone who did inspections it was really a joke. That ended in the mid 1970s when the first emissions inspections started. I'm sure you'll all be shocked to know that the first emissions testing machines were a fuster cluck.

    Writhing in sadness and whatnot…

    Work has been kicking my ass too. I’m working as a technician, manager, and warranty admin right now. It’s a LOT to handle at the moment.

    So you mean to tell me that a government designed and regulated piece of electrical hardware didn’t function as designed?

    Shocking isn't it? When they were first put into place I went to a garage owned by a friend of my dad's to get inspected. He told me that the machines were very finicky and sure enough, there was something that it didn't like about the way he entered the data and it refused to print the sticker. This was way before PCs, so it was a purpose built machine that only techs for the company could work on. I had to come back a few days later aft it got fixed.

    Of course every few years the state changes the specifications and the shops have to buy all new equipment.

    If you've bought guns in MA, you know that the state does the same thing there for the verification process before you can buy from a dealer.

    @TreeFortRichard

    I might set up an old laptop and mine some alts and just bank them over time and hope that one will take off sometime. Cool beans though! Might look at setting up a real deal rig for it like you did.

    That's a worry you don't need, I was terrified for a while they wouldn't pay on my accident in 2002 for my almost new car.

    Or buy this one..
