A-pillar. you all know this one
    easy enough, fast
    problems?
-your hand is probably gonna hit it turning the steering wheel
-the phone cord/cable is not long enough

it's still better than nothing. It's still good to have. You can even take the arm off and hide it in the glovebox when not using it so it's out of the way.

    My question is,
are the other ones worth getting too? I imagine some of you will have more stuff open.
Like an Ipad using a trail map

There's a couple other ones I know of:
    Tech Deck:

    top mount:

    side mounts:

the tech deck might not work with/get in the way of the side mounts,
unless that is too many ram mounts

but one thing is for certain
just one seems like not enough
it should probably be at least two

I'm gonna look into that techdeck
it seems like the knobs could get in the way of operating A/C and stuff
but that may be worth it sometimes for the utility of holding an iPad with trail map
simply adjust hand to operate A/C from a different angle, no big deal
or switch to different knob design such as the big colored ones from AJT Design

might even be worth custom making a tech deck style part that integrates the side mount
with quick detach to run it blank
then decide before needing it which mounts to connect where on it

You could add a lower level for the Tech Deck. This is from Rago Fabrication.

    Top mount for me.

Had the tech deck, didn't like how low stuff was, nor that it blocked controls.

The EE TPAM keeps my phone up and easy to see while I'm driving. Great for maps, etc.

I went top mount with an expedition essentials unit as well. Keeps the phone and iPad in a much more usable position.

Yeppers, lots of options to go with. I really like the A pillar mod. Mine is set up with plenty of room for steering. As for charging, I ran the cord up the pillar and out through the mount to my Garmin. For my phone, I went with the panavise set up for the Tacoma. Plenty of room to get the AC knobs and the cup holder.

I did the DIY method and used my CD player as a mount. I have 3 spots to mount balls but could go up to 5 if I wanted. I have had a IPads, Phones and Radios mounted up there. The iPad sticks into the cabin a little but is great to have large maps. If the CD insert fails I will probably mount one of their tracks on the dash like I seen on YouTube.
