Yeah, with all of our local hospitals full the missus said we're rocking the HBO Max on the 65" TV, lights out, volume up.

We just re-watched the Lynch version on Saturday just so she could mimic Alia saying "wait for my brother, Baron..."

I don't know if I'll ever go back into a theater.

You can buy yourself a 70" local dimming 4K TV for about the same price as a family pack of popcorn, drinks, and snacks now.

And I don't miss the person 3 rows up that feels the need to text on their 37" screen Android Smartphone in the middle of the movie.

While there are some event films that really need to be seen on the big IMAX screen (Pacific Rim was great in IMAX) and this may be one of them, most films don't need that grandeur.

Heck, MOST films coming out of Hollywood nowadays I can completely skip altogether.

This Dune film and the new Spider-Man: No Way Home look promising though.

Oh, man! I totally am missing having moved away from an IMAX! This would have been a great opportunity to go back.

Do you have any issues with HBO Max? It's a turd on my TVs. Checked on-line and see it's fairly common; takes forever to start up (or won't), all menus are super slow and laggy, once the program starts it's almost always sound but no video or the sound is out of synch with the video.

I find if I unplug my tv before going to the app the video/sound/synch issues only happen about 40% of the time (vs 100% if I don't). Laggy slowness never gets better. No issues with any other streaming service and I have fast cable internet.

I have all the bandwidth in the world, so no issues here. 300 MB/s on a slow day. I can usually download a DVD in 12 seconds.

How fast is your connection to the world? Is your router capable of handling a high-speed stream to the TV?

I have an Eero mesh network with Comcast internet. No issues with Netflix, Disney +, Amazon, etc...

Weird. Is it an app in the TV, or on a Roku stick?

Curious as to what the issue could be.

It's an app on the TV. Unfortunately, the damn thing didn't come with an Ethernet port so I have to stream wireless. Still, no issues with other apps, and my iPad gets a pretty good download speed. Not sure of a way to test the speed of the TV connection, but I'll try that next.
