My AC condensation has been dripping on my passenger side floorboard ever since I first started using the AC much (I got the truck this past December). It's also been dripping from under the truck as expected, but I don't expect it to be dripping on the floorboard too. I did all the research I could, I ran a wire up the drain line, used a vacuum cleaner on it, hit it with an air compressor, still dripping. I took it to the dealership yesterday to have them look at it. They basically did all of the same stuff and said it should be good to go. Still dripping. I'm back at the dealership right now.

The tech advisor just told me that if you don't run the AC on recirculate, especially in a humid climate (I live in Houston), you're just going to get that. They said there's too much moisture in the air and the system can't keep up with all of it. I usually don't recirculate my air because I've read about how if you run it on recirculate all the time you're going to get mildew. However, I've always run AC on fresh air in all of my cars, including two Camrys and we've never had this problem with any of them.

My wife can't keep her left foot in front of her when she's in the passenger seat or she gets dripped on. Fortunately, I have Husky Weatherbeaters, or I'm sure I'd have mildew growing in my floorboard.

So....are there any Toyota techs here who can shed some light on this? Is the AC system in the newer Tacomas so poorly designed that it can't drain all of the condensation?

I only run on recirculate. For decades and many marques.

    Never had a mildew problem.

And yes, Florida coastal is just as humid as Houston.

At least try recirc and see if it cures the problem. For sure it will make the truck both cooler and dryer, which are the primary goals of AC in any application.
