Well some guy wants 200 bucks for his 2001 4runner wheels he painted with vht paint, one coat and base is cracking. Anyone think that red blast gun harbor freight sells could take wheels to metal or at least to repaint?

Where are you located? My coworker gave me a set of 4Runner wheels that he plastidiped. If you’re in Texas you can have them.

Thanks friend but Im on east coast. People say they look old school and there the only style I like other then the rusty stock steel ones, ha.

But seriously are these little gravity feed blasters any good, they run at 90 psi.

Original clear pealed then he painted one coat of VHT crap on it. Im offering a 150 bucks but wonder if I can get it down to a smooth surface with that cheep harbor freight blast gun (its red and gravity fed). Im going to do the same with a gun metal wheel paint but I gotta take that crap off.

Anyone think I could strip off the paint to clean em up enough for painting. Hart to tell in pic but on bottom one you can see the original paint peeled then spray on top of it, crappy job.

You can but you’ll hate yourself for trying. Sandblasting with a siphon feed blaster is really slow and messy. Hire it done if you really like the wheels.

So yea shop said $110 each blasted and powder coated or all just blasted for $200. I was also thinking of blasting the the parts where the base paint pealed and possible recoating multiple coats with same paint.

But wait there could be another way, Arco, thats cool Im in white river junction, vt. I bet were not far away. Is it hard to blast em? It doesnt have to be perfect.

Always loved those wheels. You could try aircraft stripper. It works surprisingly well

Aircraft stripper would get the spray paint can stuff off, good idea. But its new England and salt gets into the clear and base sometime corroding the aluminum. I just hope those are scratches from painting. I almost think there might be filler too on them. I'm going to try the aircraft stripper and see what Im dealing with. The redneck way would be to just keep spraying them more, which might work.
