i just bought a CuradoK. it casts amazing. i have however backlashed it a few times, but well. ME. that's my move. i make tangles. i have that same Sierra. on it, i have the ABU garcia that Kat gave me and it is a good behaving couple. my Curado went on an extra FAST Phenix heavy rod. never owned an extra fast action before and my accuracy is friggen all over the place, but i will calibrate soon. i release the lure way late.

my surprise rod has been my Dobyns Kaden med spinning. i didnt like it at first, but it is really growing on me. it is slower action than i like, but it is so light and whippy. i can slingshot things way out there. i horked in a stupid big bass with it and it was a nice soft feeling fighting rod. it is a good wacky, NED and soon to be TUBE fishing set up.

no doubt. my rods are in a battle. Dobyns vs Phenix.

Just got back from the Midwest yesterday. Took a week off and went back to see some friends and family. Of course, I couldn't NOT fish when I was there. Did some pond hopping and some river fishing. From the river, we got into some catfish, drum, striper/wiper and I got a nice walleye. The ponds were the fun part though. The main pond we hit was almost totally covered in moss so it was froggin' time. I could not make this up when I type this... but the first night we went out there I probably had 60 or 70 blow-ups. Pretty crazy! We ended up with lots of bass caught, and some MONSTER bluegill from the poinds.

did you bring your gear or what? i just brought a goture 4-piece travel rod (well actually, 2 - a 9' and a 10' ) to see which would fit in the luggage. Both came in the same length 33" tube, tho. i think i can just carry it on though. i've read you can carry-on your reels, but better to keep the line in your luggage.

I was originally going to buy a rod there and then just leave it at my Mother-in-law's house - but since she or her hisband don't fish, I didn't want her 'misplace' it the next time we went to visit!

Only brought my reels. Luckily my dad fishes so he had an extra casting rod laying around that I could use. Ended up being a cheap Shimano rod, but shit, it worked! Caught me fish! If he hadn’t had the rods, I would have brought my travel casting rod (3 piece) and just stuffed it in my backpack as much as possible with the end sticking out… don’t think it would have been a big deal.

I left the line on my reels too and didn’t have any issue…. What was crazy though was I had bought some baits when I was there and I was like; “shit I kinda wanna bring these back home with me.” Ended up bringing back some hooks and a frog (with those giant hooks on the back) in my carry-on and TSA let it go through… was a bit shocked!

5 days on a lake? Damnnn that sounds legit! I have the Ike series travel rod (by Abu Garcia). It’s ok… gets the job done and comes in a nice travel case with a heavy and medium heavy action 3rd piece (which is cool). Color scheme on it is badass too. Only con (and most of the travel rods are the same) is that it isn’t very sensitive for jigs and shit.

If it’s brand new could you take it back to the place you bought it and see if they’ll take care of ya? I’m not a boat fixing expert by any means, but that’s a decent-sized stabbing. May need to be professionally fixed in order to have the peace of mind for years to come.

I bought this boat in WA and I’m from CA. I just bang it out to fill up gap. Luckily it’s 2ft above the waters line.

in all seriousness, especially being above water line, take a few blocks of wood and see if you can massage the puncture flat as can be. Get some 3m 5200 sealant. When dry, get some gator patch and put a strip on both the inside and outside. It’s a fiberglass tape patch that along with the 5200 should eliminate any leaking.

Wife and I took our dog swimming at lake Sonoma on Sunday afternoon. Brought one pole just in case I had time to make a cast….. ended up getting a bass and a big catfish - on a Ned rig!
