I have a 2013 6MT with 65k miles on it. Previous owner used it to drive to his cabin in the woods with decent paved or gravel roads the whole way, only ever used 4wd (4hi) for when it was snowing. Maintenance records were impeccable with all scheduled maintenance done on time or early.

I've noticed when shifting into 3rd in 4lo I get an audible clunk/crunch, it sounds like trying to shift into a gear without pushing in the clutch (or not pushing it in all the way), a bit more of a "clunk" but will still go into gear. There is a very slight and barely perceptible clunk/crunch when shifting into 3rd in 2hi/4hi as well, but I rarely notice it unless specifically listening for it. I don't get the same, or any, noise when shifting into other gears.

I've also noticed I need to mash the clutch pretty good sometimes to make whatever connection is needed to crank the engine, so I'm wondering if it's possibly a clutch pedal/linkage problem rather than a clutch/transmission problem (I know nothing about manual transmissions, not sure that makes sense).

Any thoughts on what this might be before I start trying to find a good transmission shop?
