[Closed] Offroading water damage in a brand new Taco!

Fair enough. Just didn’t want you to get carried away ripping your truck apart only to realize later it was the gas tank.

 

My wife is an RN and she always tells people that if you go on line for anything medical only trust Mayo Clinic site, nothing else.
As far as your truck ,I understand...we all did that. I followed a group of modified Tacoma's and Jeep's once...made but I was nervous, stock tires on a stock OR edition...

Exactly, I did ok but I could have easily gotten in trouble !

 

So I've had a small world moment! whilst out on the trail I stopped to help a flipped ATV rider and his daughter, they were both fine and I helped them roll their ATV and be on their way. Turns out the drivers brother is a mechanic, who I happened to call today to get my truck looked at! Tomorrow at 9am they will have a look and if nothing expensive needs doing they will do so for free! (he didn't sound too alarmed by what I had described). Anyways, I think that about wraps things up. Thankyou all for amusement/advice/reassurance.

Found some drainage plugs underneath and a whole bunch of crappy water came out, gonna drive around for a bit and give it a clean water rinse tomorrow.

how long were you in the water for? a 'dunk' or a wade or a full on swim?

 

I'd say 45sec-1min water just over the running boards. A wade I suppose? I see you own a 2021 also, please learn from my error and take it easy! I'll post a picture of the drainage plugs later if you'd like in case you run into the same issue.

 

well if i am to be honest i also took mine thru some puddles on a forest road when i had just only 700 mi on it HAHA (was about 6 months ago). it was merely a dunk however and i thought the water came up to the bottom of the doors but my friends said it was only up to about the middle of the wheels. It did indeed make me very paranoid and took awhile to get past it lol

 

Lesson learned right!

 

Please show us what drain points you found to be plugged.

 

With all due respect man, you are thinking way too hard on this.

Running board height? 1 minute of submersion / moving through the water? That's nothing.

It's fine.

My personal benchmark for a problem would be "does my truck run?" A: Yes? Then no problem. Sloshing = ignore.

Do you have running boards or tube steps? If tube steps is it possible water is in them?
