Is it okay to put Dex Cool Antifreeze in a 2011 Toyota Tacoma truck?

You should only be running Asian red. That's what should be in it. But check the color of current fluid. You don't want to mix. If it's not red I highly recommend a full drain, fill with water, run motor, drain. Do this till the water comes out clear and then fill with Asian red.

That's usually from dexcool being mixed with the Asian. I run dexcool in my Caddy and no issues.

Don't use Dexcool, that's for GM vehicles. Get some Toyota red Zerex like Mark posted above

I would recommend using distilled water.

supposedly this is not quite the same nor as good as what the dealer has
    Certainly cheaper though

that’s what’s in my truck now and I will make the switch

I wonder if other automotive coolants, some of which may be cheaper and high performance, could work
For sure the whole system would have to be drained to not mix different coolants
But besides that I’m not sure if anything else is different.
in general all cars run at a similar temperature with metal passageways for coolant made of aluminum, iron etc so I’m not sure why all that HOAT silica jargon matters

Dealers here often have the coolant on sale. Same price as Zerex.

Pentosin is the mfg. of Aisin red and Toyota red but at full strength not diluted. You can get it at some Auto parts stores. Only use distilled water if diluting for hotter climate area. You can also just order Toyota red online Amazon etc.

    bro what?
the standard for antifreeze is a 50/50 dilution with distilled water
    period
it is only changed in ratio using a tool in extreme cold climates

50/50 is standard yes. In hot climates you can use more water than coolant. You can mix to 80 water/20 coolant. Some very hot climates can mix to 90/10 but thats like in a desert in the UAE. And yes only distilled water. In colder climates 50/50 to 25/75.

My 2015 has the original coolant and it’s pink…. Is that the same as the Toyota red? Dafuq?

    It is.

Toyota coolant is pink from the factory. Some just call it red because pink / red... close enough?

In hot climates I have always liked water wetter. Works pretty good.
